Chad P. Shannon
After working in two larger firms in the Pittsburgh area, Chad recently started the Shannon Law Group to provide more personalized services to his clients. He believes in helping the most vulnerable in our society.
Over the past twenty years, Chad has handled a wide variety of cases in Pennsylvania and West Virginia, including nursing home and hospital injuries, civil rights, medical malpractice, premises liability, auto accidents, slip and falls, products liability, oil and gas injuries, asbestos cases, and railroad collisions. He’s obtained significant results for many clients throughout his career including several multi-million-dollar settlements.
He also holds the largest nursing home verdict in Pittsburgh (Allegheny County), a $400,000 victory on behalf of the family who lost their loved one to negligence. However, he may be most proud of his work in Marlene Thrower, as the Administratrix of the Estate of Csilisa Whitehead v. Commonwealth of Pennsylvania et al. (873 F. Supp. 2d 651 (W.D. Pa. 2012)), where he assisted in extending civil rights causes of action to the mentally disabled for injuries sustained while in a state-run facility.
Chad has been a Pennsylvania Rising Star and Super Lawyer and is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and the United States District Courts for the Western District of Pennsylvania and the Southern District of West Virginia.
Beyond his work in the law, Chad is an award-winning short film director and writer and a published author. His first book, The Best Seven Years of My Life: The Story of an Unlikely Caregiver was featured in the New York Times on February 14, 2019.
Chad spends his spare time in the outdoors as much as possible, hiking, skiing, and traveling. He also welcomes any film or book suggestions you might have. His favorite book in the past five years is The Overstory by Richard Powers.
